Drilling is allowed until 22:00 at the latest, but please don’t drill after 21:00 or before 8:00. Planning a bigger job? Let your neighbours know in advance.
⚡ Good to know: you will hardly ever hit a pipe or cable
- There are almost no pipes or cables in the walls where you would drill. Rule of thumb: above 1300 mm (1.3 m) from the floor you are clear of pipes and cables. The walls are also usually thicker than the depth you drill.
- Never drill directly above a socket (stopcontact). The cable runs straight up from it.
- Ceilings are a different story: cables there usually run straight to the utility closet (meterkast). Think of the groups in your utility closet: points on the same group can be connected to each other. Even so, you will most likely not drill deep enough to reach them.
Which drill do I need?

Example: apartment type B. Most apartments are built the same way, so use this as a guide for your own walls.
